Belkin served for 24 years as founding director of the Palm Centerwhich the Advocate named as one of the most effective LGBTQ rights organizations in the nation. He has written and edited more than twenty five scholarly articles, chapters and books, the most recent of which is a study of contradictions in American warrior masculinity and the ways in which smoothing over those contradictions makes U.S.
empire seem unproblematic. When he launched the organization, there were no members of Congress and no other organizations in the US in support of expansion. Aaron Belkin (born March 12, ) is a political scientist, researcher and professor.
He currently teaches political science at San Francisco State University and was the director of the Palm Center, a think tank that commissioned and disseminated research on gender, sexuality and the military. InBelkin founded Take Back the Court to underscore Supreme Court expansion as a necessary step for restoring American democracy.
He designed and implemented much of the public education campaign that eroded popular support for military anti-gay discrimination, and Harvard Law Professor Janet Halley said of Belkin that, "Probably no single person deserves more credit for the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’".
